Full Renovation of a Converted Barn & Contemporary Extension.
When the clients acquired the property, it had been recently renovated to a solid construction standard. However, the interiors felt cold, overly white, and lacking in identity. The brief was not to radically reconfigure the house, but to introduce warmth, depth, and personality through materiality, texture, and carefully considered spatial improvements. Our approach was deliberately surgical, retaining as much of the existing fabric as possible, both for sustainability and cost efficiency, while focusing design interventions where they would have the greatest impact.
The project demonstrates how thoughtful material choices and precise, targeted interventions can fundamentally transform the atmosphere of a home. By embracing what already existed and being selective about where to invest, the design achieves a sense of richness, warmth, and longevity.
